Más conocida como 'Peg' Walton, fue una de las criadoras de Basset Hound más respetadas y una de las criadoras que más han influido en esta maravillosa raza. Bajo su afijo (Lyn Mar Acres) Peg Walton crió más de un centenar de campeones y sus lineas de cría se pueden encontrar en prácticamente la mayor parte de criadores de los Estados Unidos así como en muchos Basset Hound europeos, en especial de Italia e Inglaterra.
Como muchos criadores de Basset Hound, Peg Walton se crió en una familia donde la convivencia con animales resultaba algo habitual. Además su padre criaba caballos y Collies, algo que acabó generando un gran interés en la propia Peg sobre la crianza canina.

Basset Hound fanciers are fortunate that the first steps of this breed were notably documented by late 19th century publications, which was the time when this breed was created from Bassets from France. Thanks to the participation of Everett Millais and George Khrel in countless publications of the time, there is abundant information of the first imported Bassets to England, the first litters born in that country, the names of the parents in the first matings and even the number of puppies born in this first litters. We also have a detailed knowledge of the different "experiments" carried out by Basset Hound pioneers, such as the matings with Beagles, Bloodhounds and between different types of Basset (the most common from Mr. Canteleu and Mr. Louise Lane).
To bring a little more to all lovers of the Basset Hound the various publications from this time we have decided to start a series of articles in which we will publish the content of the main publications dedicated to the Basset Hound in the late nineteenth century.
We start with the chapter related to Basset Hound in the book The Illustrated Dog Book, by Vero Shaw and published by Cassel, Petter, Galpin & Co. in 1881.

Cavatina, guest star in an English short film
A few weeks ago we published an entry in this same web about the participation of Cavatina in the short film Sound Asleep.
This short film, filmed by the English director Nadaav was attended by a team of Spanish and English professionals and in which Cavatina represented the role of Cuddles, a Basset Hound that is the pet of the protagonist of the film, the famous English actor Danny John Jules.
As we mentioned in the previous blog entry our participation in the short film was very enjoyable and we are looking forward to the moment of its release to see the final result.
For all those who want to know a little more about this project, the director has published a brief summary about the filming of Sound Asleep in Madrid a few weeks ago.

La RSCE acaba de publicar el ranking del mejor perro del año en España y por primera vez 4 Basset Hound aparecen en el listado de los 25 mejores perros en España. Este resultado que es muy bueno sin embargo está muy alejado de la situación real que vive esta raza en España, algo que analizaremos a lo largo de este artículo mediante la revisión de las diferentes estadísticas disponibles.
